Haley Heynderickx is one of the most promising newcomers to the indie market, and after only just releasing her debut record I Need To Start A Garden this past March, she’s back with more music, this time with musician Max García Conover helping her out. Haley Heynderickx & Mac García Conover dig deep in Among Horses III, their collaborative EP that explores folk music in a very poetic way.
Among Horses III is very stripped down, pretty much entirely made with either Heynderickx or Conover’s voice and acoustic guitars. Heynderickx leads the record in in ‘Slow Talkin’,’ the sweet guitar and gentle atmosphere already laying into deep themes: this song is about making sacrifices to pursue the greater good. Heynderickx and Conover switch up n lead vocal duty from track to track, Conover singing ‘Francis‘ and the closing track ‘Crow Song,’ where the two duet in a longing look at the end of this spiritual journey. The duo really tackle folk music well together, delivering such tracks like the sweet ‘The Park‘ and the poetic, tortured folk anthem ‘Mother.’
Haley Heynderickx & Max García Conover dig deep in Among Horses III, their quiet and intimate take on indie and folk coming together beautifully. Heynderickx is quickly establishing her presence in the music world, and she definitely shouldn’t be ignored.
