twenty one pilots Return This Week!
/It's been just more than a year since twenty one pilots went silent for their hiatus, but that's finally over. twenty one pilots return this week with a new song and a new era, and the band are preparing for a massive release.
While many major signs have popped up this week, this campaign started awhile back. The twenty one pilots subreddit has been busily dissecting an ominous website discovered from the band's webstore, when observant fans noticed a gif at the top of the page for Vessels merch has changed slightly. From there, fans slowly uncovered the story of Clancy and DEMA, the character and organization expected to be the subject of the band's new album. The ARG was long and advanced: for a full rundown of it, check out this thread from the band's subreddit that has all the details from start to finish.
twenty one pilots aren't being quite as perplexing now, though, as they gear up all around the world for the release of a new song. SiriusXM revealed (perhaps accidentally) that the band's new song will be out on Thursday, and all the promotion seems to support that. The band sent out emails to all their fans at the start of the week, asking simply, "ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING?" along with a gif of an eye, which the band posted on their social media yesterday, being the first time they had posted on social media since July 2017, when their Blurryface tour ended. This morning, a second video was posted with the eye opening a little more, this time with a slowed down clip of what is presumably new music and various scenes. On top of that, billboards have began appearing in cities all around the world (from Los Angeles to São Paulo to London) with what appears to be the band's new logo. On top of that, the same logo has been updated to feature on their social media pages and their Spotify profile. A piece of yellow tape is covering their website's front page, as well. They're really keeping things cryptic.
Are you ready for twenty one pilots' new song and album? It's been a long year of absolute radio silence from them, and fans are definitely eager for the first taste of new music. Keep your eyes peeled on Thursday for the new song - we'll be reviewing the track here on the site, so be sure to check back! This new song will be the band's first new music from a new album since 2015's Blurryface and will be the lead single to the band's upcoming fifth studio record. A new tour can be expected to follow soon, as well.
